WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.—Heart disease is the nation’s number one killer, affecting 1,265,000 Americans annually. Fortunately, many causes of heart disease are treatable and preventable, and the American Heart Association (AHA) is leading the healthy heart effort.
With that in mind, the AHA and Womble Carlyle are launching the “Lawyers Have Heart, Too” campaign to emphasize the importance of health and fitness across the legal industry and to create healthier lives in Forsyth County. Womble Carlyle Winston-Salem Office Managing Partner Bill Whitehurst is serving as Event Chair of the 2017 Winston-Salem Heart Ball and leads the “Lawyers Have Heart, Too Campaign.”
The campaign is seeking personal support from all attorneys and law firms in Forsyth County, with a goal of raising $50,000 for the AHA. Supporters will be recognized at the 2017 Winston-Salem Heart Ball, which takes place Friday, April 28.
“The legal community here in Forsyth County has a history of being extraordinarily generous, particularly in matters of public health,” Whitehurst said. “I have no doubt that once again, our local attorneys and firms will step up and show why lawyers have heart.”
