In addition to serving as Managing Partner of Womble Carlyle’s Baltimore office, he is a litigator who represents clients in business competition cases, including antitrust, trade secret, RICO and shareholder disputes.
David Hamilton is the Managing Partner of the Baltimore office of Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, LLP. David helped establish the office in 2007 expanding Womble Carlyle’s footprint into Maryland.
David practices in our Antitrust and Business Litigation Practice Groups, with experience in antitrust, class action, trade secrets, RICO, mergers and acquisitions, shareholder and partnerships disputes, franchise and other business competition claims. David has vast experience working on complex disputes with many of the cases arising from health care, technology, banking and real estate matters. He has handled numerous cases involving multiple parties in large complex matters and has litigated cases in state and federal courts throughout the United States. David has also acted as outside general counsel to private companies and regularly provides business and litigation advice to executives.
David has defended clients in federal, state and administrative prosecutions and investigations in grand jury or trials including allegations of price fixing, fraud, false statements, qui tam, fraudulent billing of Medicare and Medicaid, bank fraud, criminal RICO, kickbacks, bribery, misuse of office/theft of honest services, in a variety of industries, mostly health care and pharma. He also has handled a pharma criminal and civil price fixing matter, as well as white collar defense matters.
Prior to joining Womble Carlyle, David was a Principal at Ober Kaler in Baltimore and co-chaired the litigation department and chaired the government relations practice group. He focused on business litigation and complex commercial disputes. He also served as general counsel for the Maryland Bush-Cheney Campaign from 2003-2004 and as general counsel for the Ehrlich-Steele Transition Team in 2002, as general counsel for the Ehrlich Cox Campaign in 2006.
David has been named as a Maryland Super Lawyer in civil litigation/defense since 2007 also in antitrust and in business litigation.. David was recently selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© 2016 in the fields of Commercial Litigation, Litigation – Antitrust and Litigation – Mergers and Acquisitions. David has been listed in this publication for more than five years. David was ranked among Baltimore and Washington D.C.’s Best Lawyers in Commercial Litigation in 2011. He was named as a “go to” Lawyer by Area CEOs in the Baltimore Smart CEO magazine.
