Brian Hooper is an AV-rated attorney in Womble Carlyle's Mass Torts group. He has over a decade of experience in government and private practice. Brian focuses his practice on litigating business torts, resolving complex commercial disputes, and appearing before specialized tribunals and government agencies. His toxic-tort work includes defending companies in large-scale class actions, such as Chinese-drywall and contaminated-groundwater claims. He also represents major tobacco-product manufacturers in state and federal court.
Brian clerked for Judge David B. Sentelle on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, practiced at a large Washington, D.C. firm, and served the U.S. Department of State as Associate Director of the Office of Weapons of Mass Destruction Terrorism. He joined Womble Carlyle from Florida, where—besides his toxic-tort and products-liability practice—he counseled business owners, entrepreneurs, self-employed professionals, and other high-income clients. He also taught both tort and constitutional law at the university level.
Brian uses this experience to help clients with a range of regulatory and legal issues. He works with teams of attorneys across Womble Carlyle's 15 offices to achieve solutions that make good business sense. Brian brings to bear not only his broad legal background but also his ability to understand the political, public-relations, and practical aspects of legal problems. Many clients say they turn to Brian because of his responsiveness, accessibility, and commitment to understanding their professional and personal goals.
