Joyce works with clients to resolve antitrust and consumer protection issues that arise in a variety of business contexts. She has broad experience in matters involving alleged unfair or deceptive advertising and marketing, horizontal and vertical restraints of trade, exclusive contracting, internet privacy, and compliance with trade regulation rules.
Joyce’s practice is informed by twelve years of law enforcement and senior advisory experience at the Federal Trade Commission. During her tenure at the FTC, Joyce was responsible for enforcing federal laws prohibiting unfair and deceptive practices in the advertising and marketing of consumer goods, and in the provision of financial services. She served for nearly five years as an attorney advisor to Commissioner Deborah K. Owen. In that capacity, Joyce participated in deliberations at the highest level of the Commission, involving statutory interpretation of consumer and antitrust laws, setting enforcement policy and determining appropriate remedial relief. In addition, during her tenure in the FTC's Office of General Counsel, Joyce successfully led a task force to streamline and increase efficiency in the agency's adjudication procedures.
