He litigates product liability and mass tort cases, including leading defense teams in cases where hundreds of millions of dollars were at stake. Kurt also leads the firm’s Food, Beverage & Agriculture Team.
Kurt Weaver is an experienced and tenacious first chair trial lawyer whose national trial practice focuses on protecting company assets and interests involving complex mass tort, class action and products liability litigation matters. Throughout his nearly thirty years of practice, Kurt has extensive experience not only at trial but also in the coordination and management of mass tort litigation brought against product manufacturers.
In addition to his role as a mass tort trial lawyer, Kurt leads Womble Carlyle’s Food, Beverage & Agriculture Team. His experience includes counseling agricultural products and consumer goods companies on labeling and marketing issues and in high-stakes products liability and mass tort litigation. Kurt also provides guidance to food, beverage and agriculture industry clients on such issues as food-borne illness responses and marketing to children.
Several of Kurt’s clients have relied on his experience in providing valuation guidance in high-dollar cases (not being handled by Womble Carlyle) involving possible damages and medical/scientific factors for litigation strategy, mediation/settlement benchmarking, and corporate reserve setting.
