He is a veteran trial attorney with more than 50 jury trials throughout his career involving defense of governmental entities and public officials in employment litigation, including claims under the American with Disabilities Act, Title VII, First amendment, and REDA, as well as representation of governmental entities, public officials, and private entities and individuals in claims under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 alleging wrongful conviction, false arrest, and other constitutional claims, as well as wrongful death, qui tam actions, and criminal defense. A former prosecutor, Sean also has an extensive pro bono practice, and serves on the board of directors of several community organizations in Charlotte.
Throughout his legal career, Sean has successfully handled a wide range of business litigation matters including constitutional law, employment litigation, public official and governmental defense, contract disputes, franchise disputes, personal injury cases, wrongful death, and qui-tam litigation, as well as advising governmental entities and private individuals in federal and state criminal investigations. Prior to joining Womble in 2002, Sean gained substantial trial experience as an assistant District Attorney for Mecklenburg County where he prosecuted murder, rape, armed robbery, and narcotics trafficking cases for five years.
