Federal Stimulus Funding for Biotech Entrepreneurs

Abstract

The federal government supports the commercialization of biomedical technologies in a variety of ways, both directly and indirectly, to advance science, improve the public's health and stimulate the economy. Government support for commercialization comes in the form of legislation, regulation, and funding actions with the Bayh-Dole Act largely credited with accelerating commercialization of discoveries, and federal funding as the most significant sustainable source of economic support.
