Rep. Deborah Pryce Pens Op-Ed on the Need for a Federal “Cancer Czar”
 
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Does the Obama Administration need a “Cancer Czar”? Womble Carlyle attorney and former U.S. Rep. Deborah Pryce makes the case that the answer is “Yes.”
 
Rep. Pryce recently wrote an op-ed column on the need for a federal advocate and policy advisor on cancer. That op-ed was published in the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch on Oct. 18th. Rep. Pryce understands the urgency of this fight on a personal level, having lost her 9-year-old daughter Caroline to neuroblastoma in 1999.
 
Deborah Pryce spent 16 years in Congress, where she a key leader in the fight against cancer. She co-founded Hope Street Kids, a nonprofit organization that raises money for pediatric cancer research and treatment, and both co-founded and co-chaired the House Cancer Caucus in Congress. In 2006, she won the Distinguished Advocacy Award from the American Cancer Society, the organization’s highest honor.
 
She currently is a member of Womble Carlyle’s Federal and State Government Affairs Team in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office.
