BALTIMORE—Womble Carlyle attorney John Parker Sweeney has written a new article detailing recent developments in a closely watched lawsuit pertaining to global warming. Sweeney’s article appears in the current issue of The Voice, a publication of DRI, the Voice of the Defense Bar.

A group of Hurricane Katrina victims sued major energy companies, claiming that global warming contributed to the climate conditions that led to the devastating hurricane. After a series of legal twists and turns, the Fifth Circuit has dismissed the plaintiff’s claims. However, Sweeney believes that the case may well continue.

John Parker Sweeney is a products liability, environmental and toxic tort litigator who has handled national “Bet-the-Company” defense cases. He practices in Womble Carlyle’s Baltimore office.
