Charlie Edwards Speaks At NMHC Forum
March 31, 2009
Staying up-to-date on employment-related legal developments and human resources best practices is more important than ever as the apartment industry confronts new challenges in today's economic environment. The National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) addressed these issues during its Human Resources Forum in Chicago this week.
Womble Carlyle Labor & Employment attorney and member of the firm's Multifamily Industry Group, Charlie Edwards participated in a panel titled, "Legal and Legislative Update: Recent Developments in Employment and Labor Law," which provided an overview of the latest, must-know changes to the legal landscape and impacts to the apartment industry. The session focused on recently-enacted laws and pending legislation at the federal level as well as key court decisions, specifically, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act (signed into law in January) and the proposed Paycheck Fairness Act and Employee Free Choice Act.
NMHC is a national association representing the interests of the larger and most prominent apartment firms in the U.S. NMHC's members are the principal officers of firms engaged in all aspects of the apartment industry, including ownership, development, management, and financing.
