WASHINGTON, D.C.—Womble Carlyle attorney Chris Jeffers is among the speakers at this year’s Mid-Atlantic Bio Conference, to be held Nov. 4-6 at the Washington Convention Center.

Jeffers will participate in a panel discussion entitled, “The Crown Jewels of Biotech Value: New Developments and Strategies for Intellectual Property.” The discussion seeks to answer such questions as:

  • Is it possible to have too much patent protection that becomes onerous for future partners?
  • How can you grow, yet still protect, your technology in this unprecedented time of increasing collaboration and sharing of intellectual property ideas and rights?
  • What specifically do investors seek to learn early, and late, in the diligence process and what are the red flags that scream “Don't invest!”?
The 2009 Mid-Atlantic Biotech Conference will bring together more than 850 biotech industry leaders, government officials, researchers, investors and entrepreneurs. Jeffers’ panel discussion takes place Friday morning, Nov. 6th.

Dr. Christopher E. Jeffers is a patent attorney in Womble Carlyle’s Washington office, focusing his practice on biotechnology, chemical and pharmaceutical-related patent issues. Chris is the former General Counsel and Vice President of Intellectual Property for Alba Therapeutics Corporation in Baltimore. In addition to his legal degree, he holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry.
