Event Recap: 2010 Legal Update: Developments and Recent Trends in Labor and Employment Law

On Wednesday, June 23, Womble Carlyle presented the "2010 Legal Update: Developments and Recent Trends in Labor and Employment Law" for members of the Winston-Salem Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) in the firm's Winston-Salem office at One West Fourth Street. The Legal Update provided SHRM members with information about new laws and regulations and developing trends that HR professionals need to be aware of in 2010 and beyond. The presenters included Womble Carlyle lawyers:
- Patrick Allen, who addressed Health Care Reform,
- Charlie Edwards, who spoke on “Retaliation Claims: Avoiding the Legal Pitfalls”,
- Carrie Hanger, who presented “Social Media: What Employers Need to Know”,
- John Pueschel, who gave an ADA Update,
- Mark Sampson, who provided an FMLA Update, and
- Kurt Stakeman, who presented “Fraud in the Workplace”.
Each session included a discussion of new laws and their potential impact, answers to audience questions, and provided a set of action items to help HR professionals put their knowledge to work.
