Don Lampe presented to members of the Charlotte Chapter's Association of Corporate Counsel at its first Lunch-n-Learn series. The Lunch-n-Learn, held on Tuesday, January 22nd, focused on a very timely issue in the financial industry: The Subprime Crisis and Housing Slowdown.

The Lunch-n-Learn was designed specifically for industry insiders and those directly affected by the deepening mortgage crisis. The seminar addressed:

  • The legal and regulatory outlook in 2008 for mortgage lending and housing finance
  • Expected timelines and tensions in regulatory and legislative approaches to the crisis from Congress and Federal Banking Agencies, and
  • Unique state initiatives in the Carolinas

Don is a noted industry attorney on mortgage lending regulation and compliance, with twenty-five years experience in banking and financial services law. He is often called on to represent leading financial services firms and industry trade groups in administrative, legislative and compliance matters. He testified before the U.S. Congress twice in 2007 on comprehensive mortgage reform bills, as well as before the Federal Reserve Board in 2000 at high-cost home mortgage lending hearings. Don is the Chair of the American Bar Association's Consumer Financial Services Committee and is a member of the Board of Regents of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers, the Board of Advisors of the UNC Center for Banking and Finance, and the Governing Committee of the Conference on Consumer Finance Law.

The Lunch-N-Learn series by the Association of Corporate Counsel gives its members timely, up-to-the minute analysis of critical developments across a wide range of legal issues from attorneys in the field. Womble Carlyle is a strategic partner of the Charlotte Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel.
