Liz Riley, Mark Henriques To Speak on Charter School Issues

GRAND RAPIDS, MI—Womble Carlyle attorneys Liz Riley and Mark Henriques will be speaking at the National Heritage Academies Board Symposium. Riley and Henriques will discuss “The ‘Top Ten’ pitfalls and governance mistakes that can cause trouble for charter school boards – and the best practices to help avoid them.”
National Heritage Academies operates more than 70 privately managed public schools in nine states. The Board Symposium takes place Oct. 10-12 in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Liz Riley is an education law attorney who provides advice and support in areas including school policy, governance, compliance, risk and claims management, financing issues and construction law. She works with a variety of public traditional and charter schools, private schools, colleges, universities, foundations and education management organizations. Liz is experienced with the organization, licensure and chartering requirements necessary to establish new schools, auxiliary or foreign campuses and degree-granting programs. She practices in Womble Carlyle’s Raleigh, N.C., office.
Mark Henriques has 20 years of experience as a litigation attorney. He advises and represents public and private educational institutions in issues relating to education law, student discipline, due process, policy implementation and sexual harassment. He practices in Womble Carlyle’s Charlotte, N.C., office.
