Michael Sullivan to Speak at Asbestos Litigation Conference

SAN FRANCISCO—Womble Carlyle product liability attorney Michael Sullivan will be a guest speaker at the Asbestos Litigation Conference, to be held Sept. 13-15 in San Francisco.
 
Sullivan will be speaking on “Household & Secondary Exposure- Bystander & Idiopathic Cases.” The panel discussion will include such topics as:
  • Overview of recent verdicts and precedent-setting cases involving secondary or bystander exposure
  • Taking it home – update on case law involving secondary exposure cases brought by spouses and children
  • State of the art and duty to warn
  • What constitutes frequent, regular and proximate exposure?
  • The idiopathic defense – is there such thing as an idiopathic mesothelioma claim?
  • Daubert Frye Update
Sullivan is joined on the panel by attorneys Thomas Burns of O’Connell, Tivin, Miller and Burns, LLC in Chicago; Ben DuBose of the DuBose Law Firm in Dallas; Clay Fostel of the Lanier Law Firm in Houston; and Ted Gianaris of Simmons Browder Gianaris Angelides & Barnerd LLC in East Alton, Ill.

Michael Sullivan has more than 25 years of experience as a product liability litigator, with extensive experience in asbestos litigation. He has served as National Coordinating Counsel and Case Manager for a global automotive company in the national asbestos friction litigation.
