Womble Carlyle's Privacy Team Partners with WMACCA for Signature Luncheon: Why Every Inside Counsel Should Care About Privacy Protection

In the electronic information era, companies have in their possession unprecedented quantities of personally identifiable information about employees, consumers and residents. Even companies that have taken extraordinary measures to protect private information sometimes are victims of employee and technical errors, or of criminals. In worst cases, shareholder value has imploded, class-action lawsuits have had to be defended, and jobs have been lost.

This session, moderated by Womble Carlyle privacy attorney, Jennifer M. Kashatus, will explore corporate counsel's role in protecting private information, and how counsel can develop policies that protect themselves and the company when private information is breached. Privacy experts from Womble Carlyle's Privacy and Data Protection Team, in-house, and government will discuss "best practices" for developing a comprehensive privacy program.
