Ted Claypoole Speaks on N.C. Patient Access Bill

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.—Womble Carlyle attorney Ted Claypoole spoke to members of the North Carolina Biosciences Organization (NCBIO) about a proposed new patient access law.
Claypoole participated in a panel discussion led by Kryosphere CEO Neil Jones on H795, a proposal in the North Carolina General Assembly that would require medical providers to release pathological materials and medical records upon request.
The presentation took place at the North Carolina Biotechnology Center in Research Triangle Park. Womble Carlyle and Kryosphere are sponsoring the event.
NCBIO advocates for North Carolina’s life sciences industry at the state and national levels. In North Carolina, the Organization represents its members at the North Carolina General Assembly and before state courts, regulatory agencies and executive branch policy leaders.
Ted Claypoole is a senior member of Womble Carlyle’s Intellectual Property Practice Group who counsels clients on privacy, information security, data management and technology contracting. He also leads Womble Carlyle’s Privacy and Data Protection Team and leads data breach incident response teams in the public and private sectors. Ted practices in the firm’s Charlotte office and is co-chair of the Cyberspace Mobile Commerce Subcommittee for the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section.
