Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, PLLC will host a closing ceremony reception for the "Road to Law School Academy" program, co-sponsored by Womble Carlyle and the Council on Legal Education and Opportunity (CLEO). The reception will be held on August 3rd at 5:30 p.m. at Womble Carlyle's Winston-Salem office. Mayor Allen Joines; Womble Carlyle Managing Member, Keith Vaughan; and the Honorable Judge James A. Wynn, Jr. will speak during the program. The Triad Youth Jazz Society will also perform at the ceremony.

This reception marks the culmination of the extraordinary efforts put forth by Womble Carlyle and Gloria Agard, the firm's Director of Diversity & Workplace Initiatives, to initiate a four-week program offering 20 minority, undergraduate students from UNC-Greensboro, NC A&T State University, NC Central University, and Winston-Salem State University, intensive instruction on law, logic and legal reasoning. The four-week residential program was created to help these students prepare for college and specifically for the Law School Admission Test and graduate studies. The program was also formed to promote diversity among judges and practicing attorneys in the state and increase access to the legal system in low-income communities.

Womble Carlyle member, Cal Adams, taught a course on Legal Reasoning and Contracts while other Womble Carlyle guest speakers included the Honorable Judge Frank Bullock, Tony Brett, Jackie Camp, Georgi Yonuschot, Alison Bost, Greg Chabon, Alison-Ashe Card, Antonio Lewis, Lucretia Guia and the firm's Talent Management Leadership Team. Speakers informed students about their respective areas of law, law as a profession, and tips for the LSAT.
