Womble Carlyle Privacy Team Speaks at ACC-Georgia

On May 8th, four members of Womble Carlyle’s Privacy and Data Protection Team will speak at the Georgia Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC)’s program on "Privacy and Data Security: The Newest Obligations Imposed on Your Business." The speakers will address evolving challenges of protecting trade secrets, personnel records and customer data, within a variety of industry and business settings.
Privacy Team members, Ted Claypoole, Mike Hubbard, Tim McClain and Dick Vincent, will specifically discuss the following issues:
- The Scope of Privacy and Data Security Obligations
- Practical Guidelines for Managing Compliance and Risk Regarding Sensitive Information
- Anatomy of a Major Data Breach – U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, May 2006
- Proposed Legislation and How it Could Affect You
The speakers will share their experiences and practical guidelines on data security to help fulfill the ACC-Georgia Chapter’s mission of adding value to a diverse community of in-house counsel through educational programs, public service and professional relationships.
