November 17, 2010
Womble Carlyle presented WMACCA’s November Signature Luncheon on November 17 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the Westin Tysons Corner. The event, entitled “Head in the Clouds but Feet on the Ground – Implementing a Successful Cloud Computing Strategy for your Company,” addressed key issues and useful methods to negotiate technology transactions when the sale or purchase of Software-as-a-Services (SaaS) and related technologies and services are involved.
The panel featured Vocus, Inc. Associate General Counsel, Kristie Scott; K12 E-Learning Systems, Inc. Deputy General Counsel, Chris Ryan; and Womble Carlyle Technology Transactions attorneys Isabel De Obaldia and Todd Harris.
Attendees learned key contract terms; factors to consider in structuring and negotiating cloud technology procurement and related deals; practical ways to build cloud computing offerings; and to drive business solutions through SaaS and cloud computing models. The panel also explored the technical and legal differences between SaaS and traditional software models and identified key issues to keep in mind in the procurement process.
