Adam Katz is a Member in Womble Carlyle’s Business Litigation practice group. In his practice, Mr. Katz represents both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of cases involving trade secrets, restrictive covenants (non-competition, non-solicitation, and non-piracy agreements), employment agreements, State and Federal securities laws, tax, real estate, shareholder disputes, State and Federal RICO, mergers and acquisitions, the UCC (including Articles 2, 3, and 4) and general business disputes. Mr. Katz has extensive experience handling what he refers to as "business divorce" cases which often involve allegations of unfair competition, employee breaches of fiduciary duties, and interference with contractual and business relations. In this context, Mr. Katz has represented publicly traded and private companies as well as financial institutions against former employees, employees against their former employers, and competing businesses against one another. During his career, Mr. Katz has also been involved in a number of jury and non-jury trials throughout the country in both state and federal court. Mr. Katz also enjoys and has successfully represented numerous clients in appellate matters before both state and federal courts of appeals. In addition to traditional litigation, Mr. Katz is proficient in alternative dispute resolution including mediation and arbitration. Mr. Katz also spends a good deal of time advising clients on how to best avoid or limit their exposure to litigation.
