Liz practices in the Trusts & Estates Group in Womble Carlyle’s Raleigh, North Carolina office. Liz provides estate planning and tax advice to clients across the state of North Carolina on a wide variety of issues, including premarital agreements, formation of limited liability companies (LLCs) or family limited partnerships, succession planning for family businesses, formation of charitable trusts and charitable foundations, estate planning for a non-citizen spouse, total return unitrusts, split-dollar life insurance and income and estate taxation of trusts and estates.
 
Liz also provides fiduciary litigation advice to both trustees and beneficiaries regarding interpretation or construction of the terms of a trust, breach of fiduciary duty, and the rights, duties and powers of a trustee or a beneficiary under a specific trust agreement or governing document. Liz has concentrated experience in handling civil actions to modify or terminate irrevocable trusts, both charitable and non-charitable, as well as administrative proceedings before the clerk of court to appoint or remove trustees or resolve other trust administrative issues. Liz also provides fiduciary litigation advice to beneficiaries and executors of estates regarding settling claims filed against an estate, removal of an executor, and will caveat and will construction questions.
