Garrett R. Perdue
Raleigh
Garrett advises clients on economic development, government relations and procurement strategies. He represents clients across a broad range of industries, including life sciences, energy, information technology, agriculture, defense and construction.
Garrett first joined Womble Carlyle’s land use litigation team, focusing on securing and defending development rights. During this time, Garrett helped protect the public’s right to use a federal historic property and the state’s right to operate a significant transportation asset. He also helped private developers secure long-term rights to develop specific commercial projects, including rights to public contributions for infrastructure improvements.
Subsequently, Garrett joined Jones Lang LaSalle, an international commercial real estate advisory firm, where he represented real estate users in their negotiations with real estate developers. While with JLL, Garrett handled matters ranging from small, short term office leases to major build-to-suit projects.
Garrett rejoined Womble Carlyle after working on Governor Beverly Perdue’s successful gubernatorial campaign to assist clients with economic development, government relations and procurement strategies. His land use background allows him to advise clients how to secure long term rights to build and operate facilities, his experience representing real estate users in transactions with developers allows him to advise clients on the costs associated with new or expanded facilities, and his relationships throughout North Carolina and beyond allows him to help craft vendor, buyer and other partnership strategies.
His clients include Carl Zeiss Optronics, Cisco, CSC, G4S, Halcrow Group, HCL Americas, Lockheed Martin, Lowe’s, RF Micro Devices, RTI International, Whirlpool, Xuan Yuan Industrial Development Corporation and YMCA. A recent representative transaction involved partnering a major international contract research organization with an international developer to design, build and operate a bio-fuels production facility in a foreign country.
