Mr. Powell has many years' experience litigating employment and labor-related issues before federal and state courts, administrative agencies, and the National Labor Relations Board. He is an experienced trial attorney who has represented a broad spectrum of clients in jury and nonjury trials in over 20 states. He is also experienced in wage and hour law, having handled numerous administrative investigations by the Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division and lawsuits filed by the Secretary of Labor. He conducts numerous management training programs for clients and industry groups on equal employment opportunity laws, sexual harassment, the FMLA, and ADA, and wage and hour law.
Mr. Powell has successfully defended employers in individual and class-action discrimination lawsuits under Title VII, the ADEA, and the ADA; OFCCP administrative investigations and enforcement actions; tort, breach of contract, and statutory employment claims arising under state laws; temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunction actions involving labor union disputes and breaches of restrictive covenants and labor arbitration cases.
