Jennifer Barker Lyday

Jennifer Lyday is an experienced bankruptcy attorney who represents both secured and unsecured creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, as well as unsecured creditors’ committees and debtors. Her practice includes fraudulent conveyance cases, preference cases, receivership cases, loan forbearance and extension agreements, and bankruptcy reorganization and liquidation litigation. 
 
Jennifer also counsels clients in complex civil litigation, with a particular focus on defending insurers against liability claims. Her civil litigation experience includes personal injury, premises liability, wrongful death, and professional negligence defense.
 
In addition, Jennifer has significant pro bono experience, particularly in helping domestic violence victims obtain 50-B protection orders, working with Legal Aid of North Carolina. She also has helped the parent of a child abducted and taken into the U.S. (a Hague Convention case), as well as helped a victim of religious persecution in Burma obtain asylum in the U.S.
