John’s practice is primarily focused on assisting and counseling clients with respect to economic development initiatives and opportunities in the Carolinas. Having served as Director of Economic Development for the two-state, sixteen-county Charlotte Regional Partnership, John works closely with domestic and international companies seeking to expand or relocate operations to the Carolinas and the southeast United States. John has negotiated numerous economic incentive packages on behalf of clients on the state and local levels, and has counseled those clients on various real estate, regulatory and permitting matters as well as in general tax and corporate matters. John has negotiated and drafted all kinds of public and private incentive agreements and has assisted and counseled client projects in various means of public finance, including Industrial Revenue Bond offerings as well as Fee-In-Lieu-Of-Property-Tax Agreements. John is proficient in Japanese and is a member of the Charlotte Japan-America Association.
