Lesley Whitcomb Fierst

Lesley is an attorney in the firm’s Tysons Corner office where she concentrates her practice in Business Litigation. Lesley has significant experience representing corporate clients, including government contractors, in a variety of matters such as financial services, civil rights, SEC enforcement and general litigation. Lesley’s government contracts experience includes litigation and arbitration involving government contractors, particularly in the defense industry, as well as general litigation involving government contracts, including matters before the Court of Federal Claims. Lesley has conducted trainings and made presentations at seminars on the topic of mortgage fraud and fraud prevention, and she co-authored a Supreme Court amicus curiae brief in the Grutter v. Bollinger case. 
 
Prior to joining Womble Carlyle, Lesley served as an Assistant Federal Public Defender, where she represented defendants charged with financial and violent crimes in federal court trials, hearings and sentencings, as well as researched and drafted motions, memoranda and pleadings.
 
Lesley is active in her community and devotes significant time to pro bono legal activities. In 2004, she was the co-recipient of the Washington Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs Outstanding Achievement Award for work on Cracker Barrel litigation regarding customer discrimination.
 
In 2009, Lesley testified before the United States Sentencing Commission on behalf of the Federal and Community Public Defenders regarding possible amendments to the Federal Sentencing Guidelines in light of recently passed legislation on human trafficking and fraud in foreign labor contracting.
