As a member in the firm’s Business Litigation practice group, Meredith’s practice focuses on state and federal consumer class actions, as well as consumer financial services and other complex commercial cases. Meredith has successfully represented companies in insurance, mortgage, securities, trusts and estates, and land rights litigation. Meredith also provides day-to-day advice to clients in order to manage risk and resolve disputes outside of litigation. Some of the cases Meredith has participated in have been featured prominently in the American Lawyer, the Los Angeles Times, and other major publications. Meredith has been recognized as a Rising Star by North Carolina Super Lawyers (2010 – 2011).
 
Meredith serves on the firm’s Recruiting Committee for entry-level hiring and on the Finance Committee for the Women’s Impact Fund.
 
Representative Cases
 
Chavez, et al. v. Nationwide Affinity Insurance Company of America, et al. - Orange County Superior Court, before specially appointed judge. Summary judgment granted against named plaintiff in putative class involving allegations of auto insurance disclosure violations.
 
Gary Rose v. SLM Financial Corporation and SLM Mortgage Corporation-NC, et al. - United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina and Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Class certification denied in case alleging bait-and-switch tactics by mortgage broker.
 
Ray, et al v. Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation - Ashe County Superior Court, before specially appointed judge. Class certification denied in real estate-based lawsuit.
 
Defended national bank in putative class action involving deposit accounts by successfully enforcing mandatory arbitration clause in the face of an unconscionability challenge.
 
Successfully defended mortgage services provider against breach of contract claims asserted by national home builder.
 
Representation of CFO of major public company in securities litigation.
 
Successfully represented commercial lender in multi-million dollar coverage dispute with insurance company.
 
Represented multi-national energy company in a series of lawsuits arising out of investments its subsidiaries made in Myanmar (Burma). 
 
Successful representation of numerous fiduciaries in trust and estates matters.
