Mike Cashman is an experienced business litigator with a wide-ranging practice. He has represented numerous business clients in consumer financial, class action, insurance defense, as well as appellate and general business litigation matters.
 
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Cashman graduated from the United States Military Academy and served as an infantry officer and Airborne Ranger in the United States Army in increasing positions of responsibility, both stateside and abroad, culminating as Aide to the Commanding General of Fort Jackson and the United States Army Training Command. He also taught Military Science and Leadership as an Assistant Professor at the University of South Carolina, commanded a combined forces, pathfinder unit in the Republic of Korea and lead a 36-soldier, light infantry, rapid-deployment platoon. He is a three-time nominee for the Douglas McArthur Leadership Award, recipient of two Meritorious Service Medals and an inductee in the Order of Saint Maurice.

Bringing the same intensity to his legal career, Mr. Cashman matriculated at the University of South Carolina School of Law where he received the CALI Award for Excellence in Constitutional Law. Thereafter, he transferred to the University of Minnesota Law School and graduated cum laude while serving as director of the Moot Court and as a member of the Minnesota Intellectual Property Journal and both the Curriculum and Admissions Committees.

Prior to returning to South Carolina, Mr. Cashman practiced law in Minnesota. His legal experience includes clerking at a corporate transactional firm in the Twin Cities, litigating as an associate at a corporate litigation firm and serving as a judicial law clerk in the Fourth Judicial District Court in Minneapolis. During that time, he also taught legal writing at the University of Minnesota Law School.

Since his return to South Carolina, Mr. Cashman clerked at Federal District Court in South Carolina, and practiced with a firm in Columbia, before joining Womble Carlyle.

In addition to his law degree, Mr. Cashman holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Carolina Moore School of Business and a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy, West Point, N.Y.
