Bob Gaumont’s primary areas of practice are business, commercial and white collar litigation, with a focus on disputes concerning shareholders, securities, corporate governance issues, class actions, intellectual property and business competition claims. Bob is experienced in litigating trademark, copyright and patent infringement cases. He also has experience in a wide array of employment disputes, including litigation concerning non-competition covenants and trade secrets, and in real property disputes, including litigation involving restrictive covenants. His experience includes dozens of trials and arbitrations, among them four jury trials. He has argued appeals and has experience in mediation and other types of alternative dispute resolution.
Bob has extensive experience in conducting internal investigations. Before joining Womble Carlyle, Bob was a member of the Litigation practice group at DLA Piper US LLP, where he represented Senator George J. Mitchell in conducting an investigation into the alleged illegal use of steroids and other performance-enhancing substances in Major League Baseball. Bob also assisted in the representation of MCI WorldCom in conducting internal investigations and obtaining a declination of charges by the US Department of Justice.
Bob currently serves as a member of the panel of criminal defense attorneys who represent defendants, pursuant to the Criminal Justice Act, in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. He previously served as a prosecutor in the Baltimore City States Attorney's Office.
