Mr. Davis has over twenty years’ experience as a business trial attorney. He is proficient at finding practical, cost-effective solutions to his clients’ business-related problems, whether that solution is a short pre-lawsuit mediation or a lengthy jury trial. Mr. Davis’s litigation skills have been recognized by his peers as reflected by his inclusion in both The Best Lawyers in America and North Carolina Super Lawyers.
Mr. Davis concentrates his practice in North Carolina federal courts, the North Carolina Business Court, and North Carolina state courts. He regularly represents clients in arbitrations administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA), Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services (JAMS), and the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD). He is a member of the Firm’s Business Litigation Practice Group in both Winston-Salem and Greensboro.
Mr. Davis has represented billion-dollar public companies in the construction aggregate, financial services, broker/dealer, microprocessor and natural gas transmission sectors. In addition, he has prosecuted and defended lawsuits for middle market business clients in sectors as varied as avionics, automobile distribution, battery manufacturing, brick manufacturing, chemical manufacturing, electricity generation and transmission, fiber optics, food services (including the grocery and restaurant industries), furniture manufacturing, gemstone manufacturing, hedge funds, laser manufacturing, logistics, real estate development, stock car racing, television transmission, temporary staffing, textiles, and warehousing. He also has been asked to defend other attorneys.
Mr. Davis recently served as lead defense counsel for a group of financial institutions in a series of class actions in North Carolina, including Skinner v. Preferred Credit et al, 361 N.C. 114, 638 S.E. 2d 203, (2006), Dash v. First Plus Home Loan Trust 1996-2, 248 F. Supp. 2d (M.D. N.C. 2003) and Faircloth v. Nat’l Home Loan Corp., 313 F. Supp. 2d 544 (M.D. N.C. 2003), aff’d, 87 Fed. Appx. 314 (4th Cir. 2004).
