Sarah focuses her practice on regulatory compliance matters for hospitals, physician groups, independent laboratories, and medical device manufacturers. Her experience includes assisting clients with:

  • Stark Law compliance;
  • Federal Anti-Kickback Statute issues;
  • Federal Anti-Markup Rules;
  • Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement;
  • Compliance with various state self-referral, account billing, and corporate practice of medicine laws;
  • HIPAA Privacy and Security compliance, including compliance with the HITECH Act;
  • State certificate of need requirements;
  • Compliance with various state gift ban, compliance plan, and disclosure requirements applicable to medical device manufacturers, including compliance with the federal Physician Payments Sunshine Act;
  • Implementation and use of health information technology; and
  • Incentives available to health care providers for the “meaningful use” of electronic health records, including certification of health information technology and “meaningful use” objectives and measures.
In addition, Sarah works with health care providers on drafting and negotiating physician employment and recruitment agreements, as well as professional services agreements and equipment leases. Sarah also assists healthcare providers with developing new and modifying existing compliance programs to limit the risk of fraud and abuse.
