Sean is one of the firm's most experienced young trial attorneys, having tried and won numerous cases as lead counsel in both state and federal courts. Sean has extensive litigation experience, handling complex legal issues in state and federal court.
Throughout his legal career, Sean has successfully handled a wide range of business litigation matters including constitutional law, employment litigation, public official and governmental defense, contract disputes, personal injury cases, wrongful death, and qui-tam litigation. Just recently, Sean successfully defended a national retailer in a fraud claim brought by an independent distributor, and successfully represented a municipality over claims that it fraudulently administered a federal program in violation of the False Claims Act. Prior to joining Womble in 2002, Sean gained substantial trial experience as an assistant District Attorney for Mecklenburg County where he prosecuted murder, rape, armed robbery, and narcotics trafficking cases for five years.
Sean prides himself on representing clients in an efficient and thoughtful manner. He consistently works to achieve the best result for clients whether that result is at trial or a favorable settlement. Sean’s proficiency and success at all levels of civil litigation, coupled with his attention to detail, have served to strengthen his client relationships, resulting in long-term loyalty, appreciation and respect.
