Trent is a Member in the real estate development group. He focuses his practice on the acquisition, leasing, financing, development and sale of retail, office and industrial properties. He has extensive experience in negotiating ground leases for retail (big box and anchor tenants) and industrial properties, build-to-suit leases, sale/leaseback transactions and Class A office leases. He also represents developers in connection with permanent financings, condominium projects, 1031 exchanges, and tenant-in-common transactions. In addition, Trent is a member of the Firm's Timberland Resources Industry Group, and he regularly negotiates large acreage, timberland sales and acquisitions as well as wood supply agreements and other timberland contracts.

Trent has been listed as a member of Business North Carolina’s – Legal Elite for Commercial Real Estate.  Trent has also been listed as a North Carolina Rising Star for Commercial Real Estate by SuperLawyers.

  • Represented national big-box retailer in connection with acquisition, ground leasing and development of retail sites.
  • Represented national bank in connection with corporate real estate acquisitions, dispositions and ground leasing of retail and office properties.
  • Represented developer in connection with conversion of Class A office condominium building.
  • Represented seller/tenant in connection with sale/leaseback of 400,000 square foot manufacturing facility.
  • Represented purchaser in connection with acquisition of approximately 700,000 acres of timberland.
  • Represented seller in connection with disposition of approximately 350,000 acres of timberland.
  • Represented tenant in connection with negotiation of 90,000 square foot build-to-suit office project.
  • Represented developer in connection with acquisition of Class A office building using TIC Structure.
  • Represented developer in connection with Section 1031 Reverse Exchange acquisition of Class A office building.
  • Represented tenant in connection with leasing of industrial/warehouse properties.
  • Represented developer in connection with development of urban mixed-use research park.
  • Represented health care company in connection with lease of Class A office space throughout United States.
  • Represented regional hospital in connection with long term ground lease of assisted living facility.
