Kip is a Member in the Corporate and Securities Practice Group of Womble Carlyle's Research Triangle Park office which he co-founded in 1997. Since joining Womble Carlyle in 1994, Kip has focused his practice on representing a wide variety of information technology, software, Internet and wireless clients while also representing a number of angel and venture capital investors. He regularly advises clients on venture capital and mezzanine financings, initial and secondary public securities offerings, strategic alliances, technology transfer and licensing arrangements, mergers and acquisitions, employee recruitment and retention issues and commercialization strategies for new technologies. Kip represents public and private clients in every stage of development from business plan generation to mature operating company. Kip is also an active angel investor in the Research Triangle Park and Silicon Valley areas. He is a member of The Atlantis Group and has led or participated in more than a dozen venture and angel investments in the past few years.

Since 2005, Kip has represented clients in raising more than $350 million of venture capital financing. In 2007, Kip closed financings representing more than 29% of all venture capital raised in North Carolina. In 2006, Kip closed financings representing more than 16% of all venture capital raised in North Carolina. From 2005 to 2007, Kip served as company counsel in 4 of the 8 venture capital financings in North Carolina that exceeded $30 million. Kip also assisted clients in a number of significant merger and acquisition transactions during this period.
