As befitting our long-standing partnership with the Association of Corporate Counsel, Womble Carlyle was among the most active participants in this week's Association of Corporate Counsel Annual Meeting. The Womble Carlyle team of attorneys Kurt Lindquist, Holly Svetz, Debbie Israel, Keith Munson, Fred Rom, Dave Mazza, Nellie Shipley, Chuck Baker, Kurt Stakeman, Richard Rainey, Greg Chabon, Sales Director Daryle Bost and Marketing Manager Ashley James were outstanding in representing the firm in Denver.

Womble Carlyle attorneys and client developers gave presentations, talked with clients and potential clients, distributed swag and shared "front line" stories with fellow attendees. Our team, and others on the home front, provided real-time commentary and insight via Twitter, while the Client Development Department provided marketing materials and support for the team.

Nearly 500 in-house attorneys visited the Womble Carlyle booth during the three-day conference.

Six of our attorneys served as speakers at ACC11, another indication of the esteem in which Womble Carlyle is held in the in-house community:

  • Holly Svetz—Intro to Legal Issues in Government Contracts, Grants and Other Funding Agreements;
  • Keith Munson—Wincing is Not a Form of Preparation – What "The Office" Can Teach us About Rule 30(b)(6) Depositions
  • Kurt Stakeman—Enemies at the Gate! Or Are They Already Inside?
  • Greg Chabon—Drafting and Interpreting Contracts – Getting it Done Right
  • Richard Rainey—Your First Line of Defense: Training Supervisors to Ward Off Employment Law Claims
  • Fred Rom—When the Unthinkable Happens: Preparing for Industrial Catastrophes.

In addition to the outstanding work by the on-site team, Womble Carlyle’s thriving relationship with the ACC is the result of years of careful bridge-building by many other people behind the scenes.

Steve Bell—“Beyond the great work on the front lines, virtually our entire Client Development Department, Client Development Committee and many other firm leaders have been instrumental in building the foundation that allowed the 2011 ACC Annual Meeting to be such a success. Keith Vaughan, Pam Rothenberg, Press Millen, Dean Rutley, Keith Munson, Karen Carey and other firm leaders have been providing support for ACC relationship-building for years, and we are now enjoying the results of years of their longstanding efforts. Working with office leaders, virtually every member of our Client Development Department supports the firm’s relationship with the ACC year-round by supporting local ACC Chapters and the National New to In House Committee. Even while our team of lawyers and client developers were on the ground at the ACC11 in Denver, many members of our Client Development Department and several lawyers back home provided support to our front-line troops via social media communiqués. Especially critical to our relationship are the efforts of our Director of Media Russell Thomas, Creative Director Heather Allison, and Director of Digital Media, Aden Dauchess.”

Many thanks to all who made Womble Carlyle's involvement in ACC11 a smashing success. Before you know it, we will be gearing up for ACC12, to be held Sept. 30-Oct. 3 in Orlando.
