Bob Ehrlich Is Princeton's 2009 Citizen Athlete Award Winner

Womble Carlyle member and former Maryland governor Bob Ehrlich received Princeton University's 2009 Citizen-Athlete Award on May 28th, 2009. The Award is presented annually by the Princeton Varsity Club to graduates who have made selfless and noble contributions to sport and society. Prior recipients include Robert S. Mueller '66, who played lacrosse for Princeton and is now director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Dick Kazmaier '52, winner of the 1951 Heisman Trophy and president of Kazmaier Associates.

Governor Ehrlich '79 played linebacker for the Princeton football team and captained the squad his senior year. After graduating from Princeton, he served as a coach's assistant for the Wake Forest football team in Winston-Salem, N.C. under head coach Al Groh. Ehrlich served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates from 1987-1995, as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1995-2003, and as governor of Maryland from 2003-2007. He is currently a member of Womble Carlyle's Baltimore office.
