Bob Numbers Writes Guest Column on N.C. Judicial Selection Process
November 28, 2011
Womble Carlyle attorney Bob Numbers recently wrote a guest column for the Winston-Salem Journal newspaper in which he argues against a proposal to turn over selection of North Carolina’s judges to a state panel. Instead, Numbers says voters should continue to elect judges.
“The interests of North Carolina's citizens will be best served by allowing voters to directly select their judicial officials after being provided with as much information as possible on the candidates — including a candidate's partisan affiliation,” Numbers writes.
Bob Numbers is a business litigation attorney in Womble Carlyle’s Raleigh office and a member of the North Carolina Advisory Committee to the United States Commission on Civil Rights. He is co-author of the North Carolina Appellate Blog.
