At the American Bar Association Annual Meeting in Chicago in early August, Charlotte Capital Markets attorney Don Lampe was awarded the Section of Business Law Section Chair’s Award. The Section Chair's Award is given annually to a Section member who has made extraordinary contributions to the Section over the course of the year.

Don was recognized for a number of initiatives that he spearheaded as Chair of the Section's Consumer Financial Services Committee, including help for Katrina victims, financial literacy and consumer protections for U.S. servicemembers. It was noted that membership of the Consumer Financial Services Committee grew by almost 30% during his 3-year term as Chair of that Committee at a time when overall membership in the American Bar Association was declining. Don completed his 3-year term as Chair of the Committee effective as of the conclusion of the Annual Meeting and has joined the Council of the Section of Business Law, the 24-lawyer body that oversees the affairs to the 60,000-member Section.
