Don Lampe to Participate in Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP) Roundtable Audio Conference
November 10, 2008
Congress has approved the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act (EESA) to address the nation’s recent financial crisis. But many of the details of that relief package remain a work in progress.
Particularly in question is the Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP), the $700 billion in "rescue" funding. How exactly will that money be used?
Womble Carlyle attorney Don Lampe will join a panel of other legal and financial authorities to address that very topic and provide some insight into how TARP may affect the mortgage market.
Lampe will participate in "Understanding TARP: Opportunities and Challenges for the Mortgage Market," an audio conference sponsored by Inside Mortgage Finance. The conference will be held on Thursday, November 20th from 3:00-4:30 p.m. ET. It will address such topics as:
- Which types of loans will the Treasury Department buy and who is helping them decide?
- How will non-participating institutions be affected by asset valuations?
- What is the status of the FDIC/Treasury foreclosure avoidance programs?
- Does a participating servicer gain immunity from investor claims?
- What are the opportunities for buyers and sellers of mortgage assets?

Don's participation in this audio conference is just one of Womble Carlyle's many efforts to assist clients with the ongoing economic crisis. The firm has formed a multidisciplinary Economic Stability and Solutions Team specifically to address issues surrounding the economic crisis.
Don Lampe leads Womble Carlyle's Regulatory Compliance and Consumer Credit Practice Team within the Capital Markets Practice Group. He is a frequent speaker on issues related to financial services. He testified before Congress twice last year on comprehensive housing finance reform legislation.
