Gordon Schreck Attends Port and Maritime Roundtable Discussion
September 27, 2011
Charleston, S.C. – Charleston attorney Gordon Schreck, head of the firm’s Admiralty & Maritime Practice Group, was one of a dozen local port and maritime industry leaders invited by U.S. Congressman Tim Scott (R-SC) to attend a roundtable discussion with fellow Congressman Kevin McCarthy (R-CAL), the House Majority Whip, on funding strategies to deepen Charleston Harbor. The meeting, which was also attended by other members of the state’s Republican congressional delegation, was convened by Congressman Scott to afford the maritime community an opportunity to make their case for federal funding for deepening Charleston’s harbor from 45’ to 50’, to accommodate the large ships expected to call the U.S. East Coast when the expansion of the Panama Canal is completed in 2014.

Schreck currently chairs the Board of Directors of the Maritime Association of South Carolina, the trade association for the State’s maritime industry. The firm’s practice group represents, through marine insurers, virtually every commercial vessel regularly calling at the ports of Charleston and Georgetown, SC.
