Gov. Jim Hunt Honored With Lifetime Achievement Award for Economic Development
June 22, 2010
RALEIGH, N.C.—As North Carolina’s only four-term Governor, Gov. Jim Hunt made job creation a calling card of his administration. Since leaving office and joining Womble Carlyle, Gov. Hunt continues to be a leading advocate for creating jobs in the Tar Heel State.
The North Carolina Economic Developers Association has recognized Gov. Hunt’s dedication to improving the state’s economy by awarding him the NCEDA President’s Award. The rarely bestowed award honors a career of commitment to economic development efforts in the state.
Under Governor Hunt’s leadership, North Carolina consistently ranked at the top of the nation in economic growth, job creation and capital investment, and was nationally recognized for its business climate. Ever mindful that establishing the future economic prowess of his state depended on the “new economy,” he established the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, the Microelectronics Center of North Carolina, and the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics.
The North Carolina Economic Developers Association is the leading statewide association of professional economic developers and their allies in North Carolina.
