Greg Chabon & Mark Wiley Honored as Triad Business Leaders

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.—Womble Carlyle attorneys Greg Chabon and Mark Wiley are winners of the 2010 Triad Movers & Shakers Award, presented by Business Leader Media.
The annual Movers & Shakers Awards honor local business leaders who exhibit a high level of performance and a positive impact on the community. Award winners were honored at a September 22nd ceremony at the Hawthorne Inn & Conference Center in Winston-Salem.
Mark Wiley, an attorney in the firm’s Winston-Salem office, structures acquisitions, joint ventures and other complex business deals to assist clients minimize business and tax risks while achieving their transaction goals. He also helps clients resolve state and federal tax controversies. During his more than 20 years of practice, he has developed a reputation as one of the region’s top tax attorneys. But his contributions to his clients go far beyond offering sound tax guidance.
"The role I like best is what I call the ‘trusted advisor’ role," Wiley said. “I often develop a very close relationship with my clients and they turn to me for advice with all types of strategic business decisions, not just those involving tax issues.”
He has a particular focus on assisting clients in the motorsports and aviation industries.
Greg Chabon’s supply chain practice includes assisting companies with strategic alliances as well as in global logistics, intellectual property and contract management issues. In addition, he provides clients with high-level strategic guidance on supply chain issues, counseling them on how to maximize efficiencies and control costs in this critical area.
Chabon also has been a leader in economic development efforts throughout the Piedmont Triad. He understands that to recruit jobs and industry, the communities in the Piedmont Triad must work together. Chabon has been a proponent of regional economic development, and the notion that transportation and logistics can drive economic growth and job creation in this region. For example, he is a member of the Aerotropolis Leadership Board of the Piedmont Triad Partnership tasked with advancing this important area of economic development. He practices in the firm’s Greensboro office.
