This summer the N.C. Bar Association named Womble Carlyle attorney Hada de Varona Haulsee one of its inaugural Citizen Lawyers, one of 25 attorneys recognized for their community service.

She was honored for her work helping to write a guidebook for lawyers that translates terms in state criminal law into Spanish. The idea is that lawyers representing Hispanic clients -- many of them immigrants who speak little English -- will use the book to translate legal terms, such as "probation" and "pre-trial release," into Spanish.
