Hagner, Norton & Tarkenton Named to Washington’s Best Lawyers Rankings

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Washingtonian magazine has named Womble Carlyle attorneys John Hagner, Larry Norton and Jeff Tarkenton to its list of Washington’s Best Lawyers.
Hagner made the list in the Buying and Building (Real Estate/Construction) category. Norton was honored in Campaign Season (Political Law), while Tarkenton was recognized in Getting Reorganized (Bankruptcy Law). The list of winners appears in the December issue of Washingtonian.
John Hagner has more than thirty three years of experience representing all types of institutional and entrepreneurial clients in all aspects of business and commercial transactions and business planning, including acquisitions and dispositions of all types of real and personal property and businesses; real estate and other asset based financing; credit line financing; and leasing of real and personal property.
Larry Norton counsels clients on government regulation of political activity, including federal and state campaign finance, government ethics, and lobbying laws. He helps clients identify opportunities to achieve electoral and public policy goals, guides them through complex regulatory schemes, and represents them in interactions with government agencies. From 2001 through 2007, Larry served as General Counsel of the Federal Election Commission.
Jeff Tarkenton has more than 25 years of experience representing creditors, landlords and equity interests in business bankruptcy cases and in fraudulent conveyance and preference lawsuits that arise in bankruptcy cases. In addition, Mr. Tarkenton works with other Womble Carlyle attorneys to analyze the effect of bankruptcy and insolvency laws on corporate and financial transactions.
