TYSONS CORNER, VA—A committee co-chaired by Womble Carlyle government contracts attorney Holly Svetz has been named the Committee of the Year by the American Bar Association’s Public Contract Law Section.

Svetz is co-chair of the Intellectual Property Committee of the ABA Public Contract Law Section. The Committee of the Year Award was presented at the ABA’s Annual Meeting in Toronto. Under Svetz’s leadership, the IP Committee:
  • Drafted numerous published comments on legal developments related to IP law in the public contracts arena. These comments were invaluable guides for practicing attorneys across the nation.
  • Organized the Public Contract Law Section’s 2010 Fall Meeting, which had a record attendance.
  • Presented instructional sessions on key topics and developments in the field, such as the Ike Skelton Defense Reauthorization Act and the impact of Stanford v. Roche on ownership of intellectual property rights.
The Intellectual Property Committee is one of more than 30 committees within the ABA’s Public Contract Law Section. The Committee’s other Co-Chairs are Fernand Lavallee, Herman Levy and Mary Shallman.

Holly Svetz has more than 15 years of experience as a government contracts attorney. As a former U.S. Air Force engineer, she has a particular interest in technology-related contracts, research and development grants and other agreements. She represents clients in bid protests and claims litigation at the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals, Civilian Board of Contract Appeals, Government Accountability Office, Small Business Administration Office of Hearings and Appeals, and Virginia and District of Columbia state and federal courts.
