Jim Kahl Discusses PACs With CEO Update Magazine
October 25, 2011
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Womble Carlyle political law attorney Jim Kahl is quoted in two articles in the current issue of CEO Update, both pertaining to Political Action Committees (PACs) and election law developments.
The first article concerned the recent growth of PACs related to associations and membership organizations.
“For the organization that is going to be politically active, a PAC is a very useful, important tool to have in the government relations repertoire,” Kahl told the publication.
A related article discussed the rules and disclosures involved with establishing PACs, which may be too burdensome for smaller groups. In particular, Kahl said PACs need to be careful about from whom they solicit political donations—and how these solicitations are handled.
Jim Kahl represents clients regarding the regulation of political activity, including counseling on federal and state campaign finance laws, government ethics laws, and lobbying laws.
