WINSTON-SALEM-Womble Carlyle attorney Kimberly H. Stogner has been recognized as a 2009 recipient of the 2009 Citizen Lawyer Award from the North Carolina Bar Association. The Citizen Lawyer Award honors exemplary community service.

The 12 Citizen Lawyer honorees will be formally presented with their awards at the NCBA's Annual Meeting, to be held June 26th in Asheville.

Stogner has been a stalwart champion of worthwhile local causes in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County throughout her legal career. For example, she is a member of the Board of Directors of the United Way of Forsyth County and is a founding member and current officer of the United Way of Forsyth County Foundation. She also is a former Board Chair of Crisis Control Ministry and still serves on the Ministry's Board Development Committee. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the Crosby Scholars Program and the Wake Forest Comprehensive Cancer Center Regional Advisory Board, and she has been active in the Children's Museum of Winston-Salem in a variety of capacities. Stogner is the current Vice Chair of the Estate Planning and Fiduciary law section of the NCBA, and is slated to become Chair in July. In addition, Stogner is a member of Hope Presbyterian Church and the Winston-Salem Downtown Rotary Club and a sustaining member of the Junior League of Winston-Salem.

"I've spent my entire legal career here in Winston-Salem, so this community is very important to me," Stogner said. "I'm honored to receive the Citizen Lawyer Award, particularly since it comes from my peers in the legal profession."

Stogner is a Trust & Estates attorney practicing in Womble Carlyle's Winston-Salem office. She has consistently been ranked as one of North Carolina's top trust and estates attorneys in recent years, ranking in Woodward/White Inc's Best Lawyers in America and Business North Carolina's North Carolina Legal Elite numerous times. Law and Politics magazine has named her a "Super Lawyer" every year since 2006 and this magazine also has named her one of North Carolina's top 50 female lawyers. She is a graduate of Wake Forest University and the Wake Forest University School of Law.

She is the third Womble Carlyle attorney to be named a Citizen Lawyer by the North Carolina Bar Association. Last year, the NCBA recognized Sen. Pete Brunstetter with the honor. Hada de Varona Haulsee was a Citizen Lawyer Award recipient in 2007.

This year's other honorees are Carole Bruce of Greensboro, Sen. Dan Clodfelter, Kristi Kessler Walters, Robert Harrington and Shirley Fulton of Charlotte, Paul Meggett of Hillsborough, James Narron of Smithfield, Lisa Angel of Raleigh, Philip Baddour Jr. of Goldsboro, Paul Holt Jr. of Sylva and Wade Harrison of Burlington.
