RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.—On November 12th, Womble Carlyle’s RTP Office hosted a student networking event for the Latino Affairs Committee (LAC) of the North Carolina Bar Association and the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) to help establish relationships among local attorneys and the Latino law students here in North Carolina.

North Carolina law schools recruit many talented Latino students, but many do not remain here after graduation. Both the LAC and HNBA are making a concerted effort to keep these talented students here in North Carolina.

Womble Carlyle attorneys were in attendance from three of the local offices, Hada de Varona Haulsee from the Winston-Salem office; Ed Rojas, Kimberly Brackett-Jones, and Leticia M. Padilla-Morales of the Raleigh office; and Jennifer Erickson Ammirati from the RTP office.  Hada currently serves as the Regional President for the HNBA (North and South Carolina) and is a member of the LAC.

Students from the Campbell, Duke, and UNC schools of law attended the event.  The students remarked that this event demonstrates the legal community’s commitment to building relationships with Latino students. The students also had the opportunity to network with attorneys from other private firms, solo practitioners, and members of the GlaxoSmithKline in-house counsel team.
