Womble Carlyle attorney Murray C. “Tripp” Greason III has been reappointed to the North Carolina Arts Council by Gov. Mike Easley. Tripp has served on the Arts Council since 2005 and this reappointment will keep him on the Council until at least 2011.

The North Carolina Arts Council oversees federal and state funds appropriated for the arts. The Council provides technical assistance, information and more than 1,000 annual grants to artists and art programs throughout the state. Each of North Carolina’s 100 counties receives funding from the Council.

Tripp is the firm’s Pro Bono Director. In this capacity, he directs pro bono activities at all 11 Womble Carlyle offices throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.

Beyond his legal practice, Tripp chairs the board of Exchange/SCAN of North Carolina, an organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse. He also serves on the boards of Partnership for a Drug Free North Carolina and the Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, where he serves as the board’s liaison to Associated Artists of Winston-Salem. In addition, Tripp is a member of the Winston-Salem Downtown Arts District Association.
